Contraception

‘The deliberate use of artificial methods or other techniques
to prevent pregnancy as a consequence of sexual intercourse.’

We’ll help you choose the right method for you, and your body.

The earliest known contraceptive is honey, acacia leaves and lint, and was used by the ancient Egyptians back in 1550 BC, while the first birth control pills were developed in the United States, and were available to the public by the 1960s.

We’ve come a long way since then, and we’re on the cutting edge of the latest development in all aspects of women’s health.

All our advice is tailored specifically to you, so we’ll advise and counsel you through the decision of which method of contraception is best for your particular circumstances.

  • Oral Contraceptive Pill | The Pill | OCP

There are a variety of types to choose from with varying levels of oestrogen and progestogen, and if suitable for your circumstances, we’ll help you select the right Pill for your needs, and for your body. The Pill can be up to 99% effective if used properly.

  • Progestin Rod | Implanon

A thin rod about an inch long that’s implanted under the skin of your upper arm, and then releases the hormone progestin, to stop you from getting pregnant.

  • Intra Uterine Contraceptive Device | IUCD

A small device that’s inserted into the uterus to prevent fertilized ovum from implanting. There are hormonal and hormone free versions available, both are extremely effective and can stay in place for up to 7 years.
